Nailed the first amendment scholarship. Not going to lie though, for it's first year it was basically pre-determined David and I were going to win it. Next year as it opens up to the city's highschool seniors there will be more of a challenge. It's cool to be recognized for being a first amendment warrior though. Publications are truly my calling and I'm excited to working towards a future with newspapers.
There is going to be a banquet thing though where I have to be infront of a crowd of people again. Argh. Two years ago this would not be a issue but gradually I'm becoming more of a recluse. My face was totally red and I almost lost my voice when I accepted my silver key for my photography portfolio. Accepting my first and second in the ESD show wasn't too bad because my focus was on intimidating the superintendent. A success I think. They are expecting a speech or something I believe as well. Do I have to read my essay? Blech.
Found my 90's record of the month stack. Still trying to figure out what the hell this one vinyl I have is. Well I know it's a 5inch, it's the player settings I'm trying to manage right now. Boy Racer, while your obscure 90's roots are cool, I'm still mad at you for defeating my record player. >:[
Lay out day coming up Friday which means I don't get home until around 9pm. There are a few poems of others that I'm stoked to see published and can't wait to show them they've gotten in. Doing the xerox style is also a feat I'm proud of the Tyro kids for agreeing to because I know sometimes I am a pushy editor-in-chief. Last year I worked with Mrs. Powers so I've learned to stand my ground on editorial decisions. They've had their work cut out for them but they seem to be learning fast and getting really creative.
Hmm, reading lots of graphic novels. Daniel Clowes is genius. Same goes for Joe Sacco. Fantagraphic books tend to ooze the tears of retarded children when they meet Mickey Mouse, but that is another journal entry onto it's own.
